Belles Fall 87-41 to Abilene Christian in Exhibition Game

SAN ANGELO –
The Angelo State women's basketball lost an exhibition game 87-41 to Abilene Christian at Moody Coliseum in Abilene.

"We will get better," head coach Cayla Petree said after the game. "We will continue to improve every possesion of every practice. Every shot, every pass, every defensive rotation, we will get better."

The Belles started the game with a quick 5-0 lead with a Kayla Turner jumper and a Hillari Adam three pointer in the first minute of the game.  The Wildcats would storm back with two quick three pointers to go up 6-5.

ACU would go up 13-10 but a Tatiana Haynes would hit a jumper and was fouled. Haynes would hit a free throw to tie it at 13 with 16:20 to go in the first half.

The Wildcats would put the pressure on to force 16 first half turnovers and go on a 37-10 run to take a 50-37 lead at halftime. The Belles were held to 27.3-percent in the first half compared to 55.6-percent for ACU.

ACU continued its hot shooting in the second half with 56.0-percent and would outscore the Belles 37-18. Five Wildcats scored in double figures including Suzzy Dimba's game high 22 points.

Adam was the Belles leading scorer with 12 points. Turner added nine and Haynes chipped in seven points.

ASU returns to action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. against UT-Permian Basin at Stephens Arena in the Junell Center.
