LUBBOCK, Texas - Angelo State's
Karli Kellermeier recorded a double-double and helped the Angelo State women's basketball team push Texas Tech before the Lady Raiders pulled away in the second half, 73-51, at the United Spirit Arena in an exhibition game on Monday night.
The Belles came out the first half and went scoreless through the first five minutes of the game until
Leah LeMaire hit two free throws to cut Tech's lead to 5-2 early.
After a Lady Raider three pointer to extend the lead to 8-2 the Belles responded.
Amanda Weaver and Kellermeier would both hit threes to tie the game at eight with 12:34 in the first half.
Kellermeier finished the night scoring 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds
Tech would go on a 7-0 run to go up 18-11 but ASU finished the half outscoring Tech 21-14 to close the first half.
The Belles won the rebounding battle with Tech in the first half 25-19 and were only down 31-30. ASU and Tech exchanged four lead changes in the first half.
The second half the Belles extended their lead to 39-36 on two free throws by
Rochelle Norris. Tech would proceed to go on a 14-0 run before a
Haylee Oliver three pointer.
Tech would shoot 48.1-percent from the field including 50.0-percent from the three-point line.
Tech's Minta Spears finished the night going six-of-10 from behind the arch and led all scorers with 20 points.
The Belles would be outscored 41-20 in the second half .
ASU struggled shooting only 26.2-percent from the floor. Six players scored for the Belles with Kellermeier leading with 11 points.
Kayla Turner and
Amanda Weaver both scored nine points on the night.
The Rambelles will open their regular season on Friday at 5 p.m. against McMurry in the St. Mary's tournament in San Antonio.
