SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball team received a career high 15 points from
Jennifer Lapp, but lost to West Texas A&M 54-48 in Canyon.

The Belles (8-11, 5-8 LSC) struggled in the first half only shooting 24-percent and only shot 33.3-percent for the game. West Texas A&M (12-10, 8-5 LSC) shot 47.2-percent for the game and 33.3% from 3-pointers.
The Lady Buffs started the game on an 8-2 run over the first seven minutes of the game before ASU battled back.
Lapp scored two buckets with
Haylee Oliver chipping in a layup to cut the Lady Buffs lead to 10-8 at the 10:48 mark of the first half. The Belle offense went cold only scoring one point over the next six minutes. West Texas A&M would use a 13-5 run to take a 23-13 lead at the break.
ASU was forced into 10 turnovers in the first half that led to nine Lady Buff points.
Lapp would be the Belles go to player in the second half scoring 11 of her career high 15 points in the second half. The freshman would score ASU's first five points of the half to cut WT's lead to 25-18.
WT's lead would dwindle to three points at the 4:09 mark after a layup by
Lauren Holt. The Belles would have a chance to cut it to two points but missed two-straight shots.
Faith Hunt's layup with 1:09 to go would cut the lead to three again but West Texas A&M would hit five out of seven free throws to secure the win.
Oliver was the only other Belle in double figures with 10 points. Lapp also chipped in eight rebounds.
West Texas A&M was led by Chontique White's 16 points and Jordan Vessel's 10 points.
The Belles will return to the court on Wednesday in Stephenville against Tarleton State with tip set for 6 p.m.
