SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will look to snap a three-game losing streak on Saturday at 2 p.m. against Cameron in Lawton, Okla.
The Belles are 9-8 and 3-4 in the Lone Star Conference after opening conference play at 2-1. The Belles are averaging 59.1 points per game and lost its top spot in scoring defense to West Texas A&M. ASU is limiting teams to 57.8 points per game while WTAMU is holding teams to 57.5 per game.
Overall, ASU hits 38.6-percent from the field and 30.4-percent from behind the arc. Opponents are held to 37-percent from the field but have made 32.5-percent from three pointers. The Belles are forcing 17.0 turnovers per game, 9.2 steals a game and 11.9 assists.
ASU is 2-4 on the road this season and have lost the last two away from the Junell Center. Teams have scored 62.7 points per game compared to the Belles 56.3 points per game. The field goal percentage (36.3-percent) and three point percentage (26.1) are both down on the road. The Belles have been outrebounded 41-7 to 35.3 and are limited to just 8.8 assists per game.
Cameron enters the game with a 9-7 overall record and 1-5 in the LSC. The Aggies, who are 4-3 at home, knocked off No. 17 Tarleton State in Stephenville for their first LSC win last Saturday. Cameron is third in the LSC in points per game at 72.1 and are tops in the league in three-point percentage defense (26.2-percent).
The Aggies limit teams to 62.4 points per game on 37.1-percent shooting from the field. Jazzmine Robinson is Cameron's leading scorer at 11.9 per game. Robinson and Christina Caddy and Lacy Reinke are tops on the team in rebounding at 6.3 per game. The Aggies are the league's top shot blocking team at 2.56 blocks per game.
The Belles hold the series advantage on Cameron at 25-18. The Belles have won seven of the last 10 against the Aggies. The last time ASU won at Lawton was in January of 2011.
Hillari Adam, the Belles leading scoring, averages 12.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds. Her numbers are slightly down on the road only scoring 10.2 per game with 4.8 rebounds. The Wall native has started 14 games this season and has scored in double figures 10 times. The junior is seventh in the LSC in points per game and sixth in rebounding.
Rochelle Norris has been one of the most consistent scorers for the Belles. She has a streak of four-straight games in double figures snapped after only scoring nine points in the loss to Midwestern State. The senior is averaging 8.9 points this season and 7.7 points on the road. The Dallas native has 10 games of double-digit points.
Amanda Weaver is the Belles leading scorer on the road at 10.3 points per game. She has hit 11 three pointers on the road and 34 on the season. The Center Point native is scoring 9.3 points this season and hits 42.5-percent from behind the arc. She is currently No. 2 in the LSC and No. 23 nationally in three-point percentage.
Leah LeMaire has increased her point total on the road this season. The Corpus Christi native is averaging 7.7 points per game on the road which is higher than her 6.6 season average. The senior is third on the team in assists with 23 and second in steals with 22.
Michelle Rosewell has started the last five games for the Belles. She averages 2.8 points per game but is second on the team with 36 assists. The junior scored six points against Midwestern State and has recorded 15 steals on the season.
Karli Kellermeier, the team's leader in steals with 26, only has seven steals on the road. She is scoring 5.9 points per game this season but has increased it to 6.7 on the road. The Wall native is second on the team in rebounds at 5.5 but the Belles best rebounder on the road with 5.7 per game.
Haylee Oliver, No. 6 in the conference with 3.2 assists per game, lead the Belles with 54 on the season. The San Saba native is averaging 3.2 points per game and 3.0 rebounds.
Tati Haynes has scored in double figures in each of the last two games. The senior scored 11 points on the road against ENMU and 10 at home versus Midwestern State. She has a season average of 4.3 points per game overall and 5.6 on the road. Â
