Belles Fall on the Road 95-56 to No. 5 West Texas A&M

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team lost to No. 5 West Texas A&M, 95-56, in Canyon on Wednesday night.
 
The Belles (11-9, 5-5 LSC) struggled shooting hitting only 32.2-percent in the first half including xx in the first half. The Lady Buffs (18-1, 9-0 LSC) was able to hit 42-perecent from the field and six players scored in double figures. WT was able to score 25 points off 15 ASU turnovers and add 43 points in the paint.  
                           
West Texas A&M jumped out on the Belles to an 11-2 score in the first five minutes of the game. Rochelle Norris hit the first bucket of the game for the Belles at the 15:19 mark of the first half.
 
Karli Kellermeier hit a three to cut the WT lead to 13-6 but an 8-2 run extended the deficit to 21-8 at 10:34 of the first half. Hillari Adam would score the next six points but WT answered every time. The two teams would play even with West Texas A&M taking a 38-22 halftime lead.
 
The Belles struggled in the first half hitting only 23.3-percent in the first half while the Lady Buffs hit 38.9-percent from the field.
 
ASU came out in the second half on a 5-0 run. Norris would hit a layup to start the half with Adam hit a layup and would be fouled. The junior sunk the free throw to cut WT's lead to 38-27.
 
The Lady Buffs responded with a 15-2 run to extend their lead to 53-29 at the 14:55 mark of the second half. WT continued to add to their lead throughout the second half until the final of 95-56. The 95 points is the most allowed by the Belles this season.
 
Adam led the Belles with 16 points and eight rebounds. The 16 points is the most by the junior since 13 scored against Midwestern State. Kellermeier scored 11 points for the second-straight game.

The Lady Buffs were led by Casey Land's 17 points while Sally Higgins (14 points), Lacee Logan (12 points), Chontiquah White (11 points), Devin Griffin (11 points) and Maddison Wild (10 points) all scored in double figures.
 
The Belles will return home this Saturday for a LSC matchup with Eastern New Mexico at 2 p.m. at the Junell Center.
