Belles Win Big 69-44 over ENMU

SAN ANGELO –
Karli Kellermeier scored a career 21 points to lead the Angelo State women's basketball team defeated Eastern New Mexico 69-44 at the Junell Center on Saturday.

The Belles (12-9, 6-5 LSC) shot 48.1-percent from the field including 57.7-percent in the second half. ENMU (6-13, 4-6 LSC) were limited to 32.6-percentfrom the field. ASU was able to score 21 points off of 25 ENMu turnovers.

The Zias jumped out to an early lead in the first half holding a 15-8 advantage after Jordyn Cooper hit three free throws. A bucket by Rochelle Norris sparked a 7-0 run that brought the score to 15-14.

A 3-pointer by Amanda Weaver tied the game at 24 with 5:20 to go in the first half. ASU finished the half on a 9-3 run to take a 29-25 lead at the break. The Belles scored 14 points in the first half and had nine points off the bench.

ASU came out in the second half and a great start with an 8-0 run to extend the lead to 37-25. The Belles continued to pour it on over the first 10 minutes of the second half. A 12-4 run capped off by another Weaver 3-pointer put the Belles up 49-29 with 11:57 to go in the second half.

ASU's defense continued to slow down the Zias and held ENMU to only eight baskets in the second half.  Eastern New Mexico would not get closer than 15 after the first six minutes of the second half.

Kellermeier scored 12 of her career high 21 points in the second half. A bucket by the junior would put the Belles on top by its largest margin of 27 at 67-40 with under three minutes.

ASU excelled from the floor hitting 15-of-26 shots from the floor.

Kellermeier went 8-of-9 from the floor to lead the Belles with 21 points. Amanda Weaver scored 16 points hitting 5-of-9 from behind the 3-point line. Hillari Adam added 14 points and six rebounds for ASU.

ENMU was led by Jordyn Cooper's 12 points.

The Belles will host Tarleton State on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.
