Belles to Face Midwestern State at LSC Basketball Championships in Allen

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will face Midwestern State in the quarterfinal round of the Lone Star Conference Championship at 6 p.m. on Thursday at the Allen Events Center.

The Belles (14-12, 7-9 LSC) enter the tournament on a four-game losing streak but are 3-0 at neutral sites this season. ASU is making is fourth-straight trip and 25th overall. The Belles, the No. 5 seed, are 23-20 overall in the tournament and the last time Midwestern State was an opponent was in the championship round in 2002.

The winner of the ASU-MSU matchup will face No. 1 West Texas A&M or No. 8 Cameron on Friday at 6 p.m. on Friday. The championship game will be on Saturday at 3 p.m.
It will be the first tournament appearance for head coach Cayla Petree. Petree has gone 14-12 in her first season at Angelo State and is 107-73 in her career.

The Belles have limited opponents to 60.0 points per game and only 38.8-percent shooting from the field. ASU is scoring 60.2 points per game and hitting 39.0-percent from the field. The Belles outscore opponent 736 (28.3) to 720 (27.6) in the first half and are 11-1 on the season when leading at halftime.

Hillari Adam has been ASU's top scorer with 12.3 points per game.  The Wall native has 15 games of double-digit points and three double-doubles this season. The last double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds came against Midwestern State. She also averages 6.7 rebounds per game to lead the team. Adam is eighth in the league in scoring and rebounding on the season.

Amanda Weaver enters the Midwestern State game coming off a career-high 23 points against Texas A&M-Kingsville. The sophomore hit seven 3-pointers, the third-most in a single game in ASU history. She has 58 3-pointers on the season which is tied with Lindsey Leatherman for sixth on the ASU single season. The Center Point native has 11 games of scoring in double figures.

Rochelle Norris is averaging 8.5 points per game and 4.3 rebounds. She has 12 games in double figures and has recorded 33 steals and 25 assists on the season.

Leah LeMaire is fourth on the team in scoring at 7.4 points per game. She has 24 steals and 30 assists to go along with a 4.4 rebounding average. The Corpus Christi native recorded a double-double at Cameron with 15 poitns and 11 rebounds. She scored a season-high 18 points at Texas Woman's earlier in the season.

Karli Kellermeier's 7.4 points per game is a single-season high for the Wall native. She is the Belles leader with 40 steals and she is second on the team with 6.0 rebounds per game. She set a career high of 21 points against Eastern New Mexico and has seven games in double figures. Kellermeier has scored in double-digits in the last two games but only has a
combined four points in two games against Midwestern State.

Haylee Oliver is the Belles leader with 78 assists and is currently No. 10 in the league at 3.0 assists per game. She is scoring 4.4 points per game and had a season-high 14 points against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday.

Michelle Rosewell has started 14 games this season and is scoring 3.0 points per game. She is second on the team with 66 assists.

Midwestern State, the No. 4 seed, enters with a 17-10 overall record and 9-7 in the LSC. The Mustangs have won three of their last four games and swept the regular season with the Belles.

Andrea Carter is leading MSU with 15.9 points per game and 8.9 rebounds. Carter scored 12 poitns and grabbed 11 rebounds in the last matchup and added 20 points in the first matchup. Kirsti Degelia (11.2) and Dianna Jones (10.2) are both scoring in double figures and Jones scored 18 against ASU in the first matchup.

The game will be carried locally on 1260AM KKSA with Jeremy Bryant on the call.
