ALLEN, Texas – The Angelo State women's basketball team had its season end in the quarterfinal round of the LSC Basketball Championships as Midwestern State won 70-66 in overtime on Thursday night.
The Belles finish the year at 14-13 and Midwestern State (18-10 ) advances to play West Texas A&M tomorrow at 6 p.m.
The Belles were down 58-53 with 2:33 to go in regulation.
Haylee Oliver sunk a free throw and
Rochelle Norris scored four points to tie the game with 28 second to go. A Mustang turnover gave ASU a chance to win it with five second left but a 3-pointer by
Karli Kellermeier was partially blocked.
Michelle Rosewell, who finished with eight points, made a three to give ASU a 61-60 lead at the 4:03 mark of overtime. Norris hit a layup to extend the lead to 63-60 until MSU four quick points. Rosewell hit another 3-pointer to put the Belles back in the lead 66-64 with 1:43 to go.
The Mustangs scored six points in the final 1:43 and the Belles missed four free throws down the stretch that could have tied the game.
The Belles had a big first half hitting 56.5-percent of their shots and taking a 35-25 lead in at halftime. ASU had a 13-2 run and would go up by as much as 15 in the first half.
Hillari Adam scored 12 points in the first half and
Amanda Weaver scored all of her eight points in the first half.Â
Midwestern State battled back in the second half making 46.4-percent form the field. The Belles pushed the halftime lead of 35-25 to 42-28 with 17:57 to go. MSU would outscore ASU 23-9 over the next 12:03 to tie the game at 51.
Adam led the Belles with 16 points while
Rochelle Norris finished with 12 points.
Haylee Oliver scored 12 points and had a season-high eight assists.
Karli Kellermeier scored eight points and seven rebounds.
The Mustangs had three score in double figures led by Andrea Carter's game-high 18 points. Shatoia Gober added 15 points and  Taylor Dowd score 10 points.
ASU finished shooting 46.2-percent from the field for the game including 56.5-percent in the first half alone. The Mustangs hit 44.6-percent of their shots from the field and made 70.4-perecent from the free throw line.
MSU scored 23 points off 27 turnovers and held a 42-28 advantage in points in the paint.
ASU is now 23-21 overall in the LSC Basketball Championship tournament.Â
