SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will be after its second-straight conference win as it travels to Lawton, Okla., to face Cameron at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
The Belles (8-16, 3-11 LSC) are coming off a 55-53 upset win over No. 17/24 Midwestern State and have won two of their last three games. ASU is 2-7 on the road this season with the two wins coming at McMurry and Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Belles lead the LSC in 3-point field goal percentage holding teams to 28.9-percent which will come in handy facing the No. 1 3-point shooting team in the league in Cameron.
Cameron is 14-9 on the season and 11-3 in the LSC. The Aggies are currently No. 2 in the LSC standings and are 6-3 at home. CU is the No. 2 scoring offense in the league at 70.7 points per game and No. 1 in 3-point field goal percentage making 38.8-percent. The Aggies average 8.0 three pointers per game and have won five of their last six games.
Cameron excelled shooting in the first matchup hitting 49-percent from the field and 47-percent from the 3-point line. The Aggies made eight 3-pointer on the night and held ASU to just 35-percent from the floor.
Jazzmine Robinson, the LSC leader in points per game at 18.0, scored 17 points the first time against ASU. Brandi Leal scored all 18 of her points from the 3-point line and is scoring 13.2 points per game. She leads the LSC in made 3-pointers per game a 3.8 and hits 38.3-percent from behind the arc. Jade Herl, who leads the LSC in 3-point percentage at 43.4-precent, averages 10.3 points per game.
Diamalises Rivera scored a season-high 23 points in the first game with Cameron. The junior has scored in double figures in eight-straight games including 16 in the win over Midwestern State. She is scoring 13.4 points per game against conference opponents and 9.5 points per game for the season. The Puerto Rico native is leads ASU hitting 53-percent from the field.
KeAnna Kelly continues to be a scoring threat for ASU. The freshman scored 13 points in the win over Midwestern State and has seven games of at least 10 points. She was held to just three points in the first meeting with Cameron. The Arlington native scored 7.8 points per game but has increased it to 10.4 during conference play.
Shauna Coleman is third on the team in scoring at 7.2 points per game. The freshman has made nine starts this season and has hit 41-percent from the field. She has seven games in double figures and two games of double-digit rebounds. The Lipan native does have one double-double that came against Arlington Baptist. Coleman scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds in the first game against Cameron.
Leila Jdily-Ezzad, who averages 5.1 points per game, is third on the team with 27 assists. The junior transfer scored six points and grabbed nine rebounds in the first matchup with Cameron. She has made 15 steals in 14 games.
Michelle Rosewell, who secured the win over Midwestern State with a steal, leads ASU with 26 steals on the season. The senior is scoring 2.3 points per game and has dished out a team-high 50 assists. She was held scoreless versus Cameron in the first game.
Minja Savic scored a career-high eight points in the win over Midwestern State. The junior transfer scores 2.1 points per game and has scored in the last five games.
Elaine Herrera has seen increased minutes after scoring 11 points against Texas A&M-Commerce. The junior has hit eight 3-pointers on the season and is a perfect at the free throw line.
Shanna Taylor hit her fifth 3-pointer of the season against Midwestern State in the first half. It is her sixth game to score in this season.
Keva Raiford has scored 1.7 points per game this season and added four points in the win over Midwestern State. The junior did not play the first time against Cmaeron. She has made seven steals and 14 assists on the season.
Jordan Whitaker and
Kietta Saunders both could see time off the bench against Cameron. Both played in the first game against Cameron with Saunders grabbing a rebound.
Amanda Weaver, the team leader in 3-poitners with 42, continues to be out with a knee injury.
