Belles Host Texas A&M-Kingsville in Home Finale

SAN ANGELO –The Angelo State women's basketball team will play in its final regular season home game of the season against Texas A&M-Kingsville on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 4 p.m.

The Belles (8-17, 3-12 LSC) have won two of their last four games including an upset of previous ranked No. 17/24 Midwestern State. ASU is the conference leader in 3-point field goal percentage defense limiting teams to just 29.6-percent.  The Belles are scoring 61.4 points per game and are 5-7 at the Junell Center this season.

Texas A&M-Kingsville is winless on the season at 0-25 and 0-15 in the LSC. The Javelinas are scoring 54.0 points per game and are led by Micah Weaver's 11.5 points per game. Lauren Jay is second on the team with 9.8 points per game and 6.6 rebounds.

The Belles had to rebound in the second half against Texas A&M-Kingsville after being limited to just 16 points. ASU stormed back in the second half scoring 42 points on 57.8-percent shooting and held TAMUK to 21 second half points.

Michelle Rosewell will play in her final home game as a Rambelle. The senior has played in 52 games and started 36 in two years at Angelo State. She has scored 145 points and recorded 57 steals. The Grapevine native has dished out 120 assists. This season she is averaging 2.8 points per game and 2.0 rebounds. She leads the team with 52 assists and 26 steals.

Diamalises Rivera has scored 9.5 points per game this season. The junior has scored in double figures in 10 games including nine during conference play. She scored a season-high 23 points against Cameron and added 18 in the first meeting with Texas A&M-Kingsville. The Puerto Rico native has been ASU's top scorer in conference at 13.1 points per game.

KeAnna Kelly has started the last 12 games and scored double figures in seven of those games. She is averaging 7.9 points per game including a career-high 24 points against West Texas A&M. The freshman added 11 points against Texas A&M-Kingsville in the first game. She has dished out 27 assists and made 12 steals. She is second on the team with 24 3-pointers this season.

Shauna Coleman leads the Belles with 5.4 rebounds per season and has scored 7.5 points per game. She has one double-double on the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds against Arlington Baptist. The freshman has scored in double figures in eight games. She recorded 10 points against Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Leila Jdily-Ezzad has started nine games this season and averages 5.2 points per game. She is third on the team in assists with 28 and has recorded 17 steals. The junior transfer scored her season high of 11 points in the first game with Texas A&M-Kingsville. 

Minja Savic is averaging 2.5 points per game and 2.3 rebounds per game in 15 games. She scored a career-high eight points in the win over Midwestern State but was held scoreless in the first game with Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Elaine Herrera has played in at least nine minutes in the last three games. The junior is scoring 2.1 points per game and recorded a career-high 11 points against Texas A&M-Commerce. She has recorded 23 assists this season.

Keva Raiford, Shanna Taylor and Jordan Whitaker have all seen minutes off the bench. Raiford has played in 10 minutes in four of the last five games and is averaging 1.6 points per game. Taylor has made five 3-pointers and has seen an increase in playing time. The junior has played in at least 10 minutes in the last four games including a season-high 16 minutes against Cameron. Whitaker has seen action in 10 games. She has recorded six steals and three assists this season.

Amanda Weaver continues to be out due to an injury. She is the Belle leader in 3-pointers with 42.

The game will be carried locally on 1260AM KKSA with Jeremy Bryant on the call.
