Belles Host ENMU on Saturday at 2 p.m.

SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will return home in pink uniforms to support Breast Cancer Awareness this Saturday, Feb. 6 to host ENMU at 2 p.m. at Stephens Arena at the Junell Center.

The Belles (14-5, 7-2 LSC) are coming off a 112-111 triple overtime road victory over No. 6 West Texas A&M. It was the first win in Canyon since 2005 and sits a half game behind WT for No. 1 in the LSC. ASU has won seven of its last games and is 10-1 at home this season.

The stats have ASU leading various LSC categories including scoring offense (83.6), offensive rebounds (14.6), turnover margin (3.16), assist to turnover ratio (1.25) and assists (18.05). The Belles are shooting 45.5-percent from the field for the season and beating teams by a margin of 11.3 points per game.

ASU will have pink t-shirts available for purchase for $15 and pink jerseys can be bid on through a silent auction throughout the three home games in February.

Eastern New Mexico is 8-11 on the year and 3-6 in the LSC. Kassandra Harris scored 12.9 points per game to lead the Greyhounds with Sarah Stinnett chips in 10.6 points per game. ENMU averages 63.5 points per game while allowing 65.3. The Belles took the first meeting 79-61 in Portales. The ASU bench was a major factor with 41 points. 

Taylor Dorsey has been the Belles top scorer and leads the LSC with 17.2 points per game. The 17 points scored against WT was the 15th game of the season in double figures. The junior also added nine assists in the win. She is tops on the team in assists (78) and steals (33). She is second in the LSC averaging 4.1 per game. The Fort Worth native continues to grab the most rebounds at 5.9 per game. She has scored in double digits in six straight games. Dorsey added 15 points in the first game with ENMU.

Brea Mitchell had a career game with 29 points in the triple overtime thriller against WT. The senior was held to just two points in the first half but exploded for 27 in the second half and overtime periods. She is averaging 12.4 points per game which is No. 6 in the conference.  It was her 12th game in double figures and second scoring at least 20 points.  She is tops on the team in field goal percentage (.516) and second in free throw percentage at .828. The 22 threes, six coming on Wednesday, ranks her third on the team. She has dished out 50 assists (2.6) and recorded 12 steals.

Jasmine Prophet recorded her first double-double of the season with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Her 12.3 points per game average in No. 7 in the LSC. She makes 50-percent of her shots and grabs 5.1 rebounds per game. The Jackson, Mississippi native is tops on the team with 30 blocks and is one of 10 on the team with double digit assists with 22. The 10 rebounds was a career high for Prophet and it was the 12 games in double figures. She has scored in double digits in five straight games. 

KeAnna Kelly scored 17 points for the second straight game. It was her seventh and eighth games of the season in double figures. She has made 30 three pointers which is most on the team. The sophomore has handed out 31 assists with six blocks and 22 steals.

Christina Robinson averages 6.5 points per game and chipped in nine points in the win over WT. She has the second most assists on the team with 52 assists (2.7 per game). She has made 39.4-percent from behind the arc which is No. 2 on the team.

The bench has provided depth with Diamalises Rivera and Kiahna Thompson combing for 20 points in the win over WT. Rivera is fifth on the team in scoring at 6.5 points per game and grabs 4.1 rebounds per game. She has scored in double figures in seven games and leads the team with a 84.8-percentage from the charity stripe. Thompson 17th three pointer was a big one to put ASU on top against WT. She scored 4.6 points per game and is tops on the team by making 44.7-percent from the field.  Lexi Murphy also provides a spark off the bench with 5.2 points per game.  Natalie Quesnel and Nekeita Bailey have both seen action off the bench as well.

The game will be carried locally on RamTV, Suddenlink channel 6 and with the voice of the Belles on 1260AM KKSA.
