SAN ANGELO – The Angelo State women's basketball team will be back at home this week as they take on conference opponent Texas A&M-Kingsville and regional opponent St. Mary's on Thursday and Saturday, respectively, and look to improve on their current record of 4-0 (2-0 LSC).
The Belles have been led by senior guard Marquita Daniels, who is averaging 19.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, five assists, and five steals per contest. She ranks first in the Lone Star Conference in scoring. De'Anira Moore is second on the team in scoring, averaging 14.5 points on 54 percent shooting from the field. She also averages 6.3 rebounds per contest, good for third on the team. Dezirae Hampton is the third Belle averaging double figures with 12.8 points and five rebounds per contest.
Guards Maria Delgado, Catara Samuel, and Asia Davis have also been solid contributors this season. All three average between six and nine points per contest, and Delgado currently leads the team with 7.8 rebounds per game, which is good for fourth in the Lone Star Conference.
As a team, the Belles are outscoring their opponent by nearly 13 points per game on average and are second in the conference in scoring and scoring margin.
Texas A&M-Kingsville comes into Thursday's contest with a record of 2-5 (0-2 LSC) and are currently on a three game losing streak.
St. Mary's comes into Saturday's contest with a record of 7-1. The Rattlers are on a six game winning streak and recently defeated Central Missouri, who was No. 1 in the country at that time.
