SAN ANGELO – The No. 24 Angelo State women's basketball team will travel for its final LSC road series of the weekend with games against UTPB on Thursday, Feb. 15 in Odessa and No. 25 West Texas A&M on Saturday, February 17 in Canyon.
The Belles are 18-4 overall and sit atop the LSC standings at 13-3 with a 10 game win streak. ASU leads the league in scoring (72.5), rebounding offense (43.4), assist/turnover ratio (0.95) and blocked shots (5.36).
West Texas A&M enters the weekend with a 12-4 record in the LSC. ASU took the first matchup 68-51 in San Angelo. The Belles have had some memorable games in Canyon recently including a triple overtime win in 2016. UTPB is 4-12 in the LSC with ASU taking the first game 86-57.
Four players are averaging double figures for the Belles and three have grabbed at least 7.3 rebounds per game.
Marquita Daniels, the No. 3 in steals per game at 3.62 in Division II, leads the team with 14.2 points per game. She is No. 3 on the ASU single season list for steals trailing Michelle Schuler (80) and Kelly Clark (95). She is tied for second on the team with 26 3-pointers while also leadin thte team in assists with 74.
De'Anira Moore, No. 5 nationally in offensive rebounds per game with 4.0 and No. 7 in blocks per game with 3.45, is second on the team in scoring with 12.7 points. She leads ASU with 9.6 rebounds per game. She has 11 doule-doubles on the year including a streak of four straight. The sophomore also has recorded 21 assists and 13 steals. The 76 blocks is currently No. 3 all-time in ASU single season history and needs 27 to tie Natalija Tsurbaskova's record of 103 set in 2004-05.
Dezirae Hampton is third on the team in scoring at 12.0 points per game and third in rebounds at 7.3 per game. She has scored in double figures in 18 games this year and three double-doubles. She has added 42 assists, 19 steals and five blocks to her season totals.
Ekiya Gray has made an impact in her 18 game scoring 10.9 points per game. She has eight games in double figures and four double-digit rebounding games. She has handed out 21 assists and made 23 steals to go along with eight blocks.
The two senior guards, Keanna Kelly and Madi Greenwood, are hovering around the nine points per game at 9.1 for Greenwood and 8.9 for Kelly. Greenwood is the top free throw shooter in the conference at 85.7 percent while Kelly leads the team in 3-pointers with 34. Greenwood also has 49 assists and 14 steals while Kelly has added 20 steals and 43 assists.
Kynese Davis, Mikayla Blount, Dearria Watson and Aaliyah Warren have provided depth off the bench all season. Davis scores 4.1 points per game and has the third most assists on the team with 46. Blount has hit 15 3-pointers on the year with 17 assists. Watson has scored 1.4 points per game and Warren has scored in three of the last five games.
