The game had a pair of unbelievable performances from De'Anira Moore and Marquita Daniels. Moore put her name in the records books with 15 points, 14 rebounds and 10 blocks. She also tied Brandai Prince for most blocks in a single game. Eleven of the 14 rebounds were defensive and she hit 6-of-12 from the field. Daniels had a career high 29 points and hit six 3-pointers. The senior hit the most 3-pointers since Taylor Dorsey made six versus West Texas A&M in March of 2017. She also added six assists and three steals. Dezirae Hampton had her third double-double of the season. The junior scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.
The first quarter was all Daniels as she scored eight of her 26 points. Down 7-5 early, Daniels made five straight points to give ASU a 10-7 advantage. Moments later the game was tied at 12 with 2:21 to go in the first quarter. Daniels drained a 3-pointer at the top of the key that sparked a 7-0 run. MSU hit the final shot of the quarter as ASU led 19-14 after one.
Midwestern cut ASU's lead to just three with the first bucket of the second quarter but a layup by Aaliyah Warren sparked a 7-0 run capped off by a layup from Daniels. The senior also hit another 3-pointer. The Mustangs wouldn't go away trimming the 10 point advantage to just four at 30-28 with 2:53 left in the second quarter. ASU would score the final eight points of the quarter to take a 38-28 advantage into halftime. Â
The Belles continued to lead throughout the third quarter. Twice MSU brought the lead to seven but each time ASU responded. Once with a layup from Daniels and an old fashioned three point play from Hampton. Hampton made it a 5-0 run after a pair of free throw form Madi Greenwood. Angelo State took its biggest lead of the game at the 1:30 mark with a layup form Daniels to go up 55-41 after three quarters.
A jumper from Keanna Kelly made it 57-41 as ASU led by double digits the entire fourth quarter. A 3-pointer by Daniels followed by a layup from Moore pushed the lead to 18 with just over five minutes remaining. Needing just one block for a triple-double, Moore accomplished the feat with a block at the 2:02 mark of the fourth quarter to tie the school record and make history.
