SAN ANGELO, Texas – The Angelo State University Women's Basketball team opens its season hosting Texas Wesleyan University in the home opener on Tuesday, November 12.

This will be the third time that Angelo State and Texas Wesleyan have played each other, the series matchup currently tied 1-1. The last time the Belles played the Lady Rams was on December 9, 1999 where the Lady Rams defeated the Belles 82-70 in San Angelo.

Angelo State returns many players from last season. One of the returners include senior guard
Asia Davis, who played 824 minutes for the Belles last season, starting in 30 of the 32 games. Davis was a huge impact on offense for the Belles, shooting a .363 percentage from the field, and .323 form the three-point line. She registered a total of 21 steals and three blocks on defense last season.
Another returner includes
De'Anira Moore, the senior forward from Allen, Texas. Moore started in 29 of the 32 games last season for the Belles, playing 773 total minutes for ASU. Moore was an explosive player on offense for ASU, shooting a .548 from the field, and a .672 from the free throw line. She made 188 out of 343 field goals for the Belles and 84 of 125 free throws. Moore led the Belles in rebounds and blocks, registering 235 total rebounds and 37 blocks, respectively.
Another returner is
Catara Samuel, a senior guard from Amarillo, Texas. Samuel started in five games out of 32 games, playing for 688 minutes total. Shooting a .407 percentage form the field, and a .271 from the three point line, Samuel would be a force on offense for the Belles to rely on. Samuel registered 80 total rebounds, 30 offensive and 50 defensive, and 25 steals for the Belles.
