RICHARDSON, Texas – After a 2-0 start in conference play,
Madeline Stephens and
Sawyer Lloyd were named the Lone Star Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, the organization announced Monday afternoon.
Stephens earned LSC Offensive Player of the Week after averaging near a double-double in the first week of conference play, scoring 14.5 points and pullig down nine rebounds per game. Stephens got things started against Texas A&M-Kingsville with her second double-double of the season, scoring 10 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, while also dishing out five assists. The junior forward followed that up by scoring 19 points with eight rebounds against Texas A&M-International.
Lloyd earned her second player of the week honor this season, this week on the defensive side of the ball. Lloyd was a ball hawk on the weekend, registering eight steals in the Rambelles two victories. The Wall native was all over the stat sheet in the Rambelles rout of Texas A&M-International as she scored a game-high 20 points, had six assists, four rebounds, and two blocks.
This is the second consecutive week the Rambelles have swept the LSC weekly awards as
Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant (offensive) and
Payton Brown (defensive) earned the awards last week.
The Rambelles are back in action later this week on the road, facing UAFS on Thursday (12/8) and Oklahoma Christian Saturday (12/10).
