NEED TO KNOW
- The Rambelles went 1-1 last week, snapping Texas Woman's 21-game winning streak before struggling from the field in a loss to UT Tyler.
- Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant leads the Rambelles in scoring, her 16.3 points per game currently ranks third most in the Lone Star Conference.
- Sawyer Lloyd (4th) and Madeline Stephens (10th) also rank top 10 in the LSC averaging 15.8 and 13.4 points per game respectively.
- The Rambelles have made rebounding a staple in the way they play, holding the top ranking in the conference and ranking 19th in the nation averaging 42.3 boards per game.
- McGhee-Pleasant (3rd), Stephens (8th), and Lloyd (9th) each rank in the top 10 in rebounding individually in the LSC, averaging 8.8, 7.8, and 7.6 boards per game.
- The trio also all rank top eight in field goal percentage, led by Stephens' .490, the second-best mark in the LSC.
- Lloyd also ranks third in the assist's category, averaging 4.5 per game, her 2.1 assist-turnover ratio is the best mark in the conference.
- Lloyd ranks 35th in NCAA DII with her 4.5 assists per game and is 25th in assists with 122. She also ranks ninth in steals with 80 and is 10th in steals per game averaging 2.96.
- Lloyd and freshman Keniah Williams both rank top 10 in the LSC in defensive categories, Lloyd is first in steals, averaging 3.0 per game and Williams ranks seventh in blocks, averaging 1.2 a contest.
- Lloyd currently ranks tied for fourth all-time for steals in a single season with 80. She is 12 away from passing Marquita Daniels 2018-19 record (92) for third most in a single season. The current single-season record is held by Daniels from the 2017-18 season with 103.
- The Rambelles are averaging 67.7 points per game, shooting 39.7 percent from the field (7th), 29.0 percent from three (8th), and 69.6 percent from the free throw line (11th).
- The 67.7 points per contest is the fourth best mark in the LSC, on the defensive end, the Rambelles hold opponents to 61.7 points a game (8th in the LSC).
- As a team the Rambelles hold opponents to a 34.9 clip from the field, that is the 13th best in NCAA DII women's basketball and the best mark in the conference.
ANGELO STATE vs UT PERMIAN BASIN
- The Falcons enter the week on a two-game tear where they downed the top two teams in the LSC, besting UT Tyler 67-63 and Texas Woman's 69-57.
- Holly Hemmeline and Alexus Quaadman were big contributors for the Falcons in their most recent victories leading the way scoring 19 and 18 points respectively.
- In the first matchup between the Rambelles and Falcons, both Lloyd and Stephens scored 20 points or more as the Blue and Gold came away victorious 68-59.
- The victory marked the 13th win all-time in the series and the 10th consecutive victory for the Rambelles.
- Hemmeline, Andreea Mancha, and Avalon Munoz each score in double figures for the Falcons, led by Mancha's 12.6 average.
- Quaadman also pulls in 9.3 rebounds a contest for UTPB, that is the top individual mark in the LSC.
LSC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
- Lloyd earned her second offensive player of the week award and sixth total after averagining 25 points per game against Texas Woman's and UT Tyler. Lloyd set a career mark in an upset with over fourth-ranked TWU, scoring 34 points on an efficient 13-22 shooting.
- Lloyd and McGhee-Pleasant were named the LSC defensive and offensive players of the week after the Rambelles downed West Texas A&M and Lubbock Christian earlier in the season, marking Lloyd's third consecutive defensive player of the week and her fifth overall.
- Lloyd was recognized with her fourth player of the week honor after filling up the stat sheet against Eastern and Western New Mexico. She averaged 15 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.5 steals, being named the defensive player of the week for the third time.
- Lloyd earned her third LSC player of the week honor after wins over UTPB and Schreiner before the winter break. This included a contest with a career high 17 rebounds (vs UTPB) followed up by a season high six steal game against Schreiner.
- Stephens and Lloyd were named the Lone Star Conference offensive and defensive players of the week following their efforts in the wins over TAMUK, TAMIU in week four.
- McGhee-Pleasant scored 21 points and pulled in eight rebounds as she was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week in the third week of the season.
- Payton Brown had a 13-point, six rebound, and three steal game that saw her honored as the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week after the Rambelles upset win over Eckerd College in week three.
- Lloyd averaged 22 points and eight rebounds as she was named the Lone Star Conference offensive player of the week in week one.
