NEED TO KNOW
- The Rambelles split the first half of their roadtrip last week, downing Lubbock Christian 60-57 before losing to West Texas A&M 80-64.
- The victory over LCU saw the Lady Chaps historic 113-game home winning streak come to an end. It was the longest such streak in DII history and the third longest at any level (men's and women's).
- Tayjanna McGhee-Pleasant leads the Rambelles in scoring, her 16.4 points per game currently ranks third most in the Lone Star Conference.
- Sawyer Lloyd (7th) and Madeline Stephens (9th) also rank top 10 in the LSC averaging 14.4 and 13.9 points per game respectively.
- The Rambelles have made rebounding a staple in the way they play, ranking second in the conference and 19th in the nation averaging 42.7 boards per game.
- McGhee-Pleasant (4th), Stephens (T5th), and Lloyd (T5th) each rank in the top 10 in rebounding individually in the LSC, averaging 8.1 and 7.9 (each) boards per game.
- The trio also all rank top seven in field goal percentage, led by Stephens' .526, the second-best mark in the LSC.
- Lloyd also ranks first in the assist's category, averaging 4.8 per game, her 2.2 assist-turnover ratio is the best mark in the conference.
- Lloyd ranks 24th in NCAA DII with her 5.0 assists per game and is 15th in assists with 111. She also ranks seventh in steals with 71 and is ninth in steals per game averaging 3.09.
- Lloyd, McGhee-Pleasant, and freshman Keniah Williams also both rank top 10 in the LSC in defensive categories, Lloyd is first in steals, averaging 3.1 per game, McGhee-Pleasant is tenth in blocks, averaging 1.0 per contest, and Williams ranks eighth in blocks, averaging 1.2 a contest.
- The Rambelles are averaging 68.5 points per game, shooting 40.7 percent from the field (7th), 28.4 percent from three (14th), and 67.7 percent from the free throw line (14th).
- The 68.5 points per contest is the fourth best mark in the LSC, on the defensive end, the Rambelles hold opponents to 61.7 points a game (9th in the LSC).
- As a team the Rambelles hold opponents to a 34.7 clip from the field, that is the tenth best in NCAA DII women's basketball.
- Lloyd and McGhee-Pleasant were named the LSC defensive and offensive players of the week after the Rambelles downed West Texas A&M and Lubbock Christian earlier in the season, marking Lloyd's third consecutive defensive player of the week and her fifth overall.
- Lloyd was recognized with her fourth player of the week honor after filling up the stat sheet against Eastern and Western New Mexico. She averaged 15 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.5 steals, being named the defensive player of the week for the third time.
- Lloyd earned her third LSC player of the week honor after wins over UTPB and Schreiner before the winter break. This included a contest with a career high 17 rebounds (vs UTPB) followed up by a season high six steal game against Schreiner.
- Stephens and Lloyd were named the Lone Star Conference offensive and defensive players of the week following their efforts in the wins over TAMUK, TAMIU in week four.
- McGhee-Pleasant scored 21 points and pulled in eight rebounds as she was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week in the third week of the season.
- Payton Brown had a 13-point, six rebound, and three steal game that saw her honored as the Lone Star Conference Defensive Player of the Week after the Rambelles upset win over Eckerd College in week three.
- Lloyd averaged 22 points and eight rebounds as she was named the Lone Star Conference offensive player of the week in week one.
ANGELO STATE vs CAMERON
- The Aggies enter Thursday's contest 10-13 on the season, losers of their last three after getting a big win over West Texas A&M at home.
- Cameron lost by eight to LCU, two to Western New Mexico, and 12 to Eastern New Mexico after bringing themselves to .500 with the 68-64 win over the Lady Buffs.
- Cameron defeated the Rambelles 61-57 in a tight contest earlier in the season, marking the only blemish on home court for Angelo State.
- Katie King had 18 points, seven rebounds, and six assists to lead the way for the Aggies in the first matchup.
- Lloyd led the way for the Rambelles with 20 points and eight rebounds as she played all 40 minutes in the losing effort.
- The Rambelles still hold a 32-24 all-time series lead over the Aggies, but have dropped the two most recent contests after winning the previous nine.
ANGELO STATE vs MIDWESTERN STATE
- MSU has lost four straight games, most recently a tight 64-62 loss at the hands of Western New Mexico in Silver City.
- The Mustangs are 5-18 on the season and are 3-14 in conference play.
- The Rambelles dominated the Mustangs earlier in the season, winning decisively 85-65 at home.
- Lloyd, Stephens, and McGhee-Pleasant all scored 14 points or more as the Rambelles shot 48.5 percent from the floor, their second-best shooting percentage of the year.
- Natalie Stice was a bright spot for Midwestern State, she put up 20 points on 6-13 shooting, going 4-8 from deep.
- The win inches the Rambelles further ahead in the all-time series, Angelo State leading 39-33, winners of the last two meetings.
