SCOUTING ASU
Adams State is coming off a strong 2024-25 season, finishing 19-12 overall and 14-6 in RMAC play, earning a trip to the NCAA Tournament before falling to Texas Woman's in the opening round of the South Central Regional.
The Grizzlies enter this weekend as the only team in the crossover to have already begun their season, having competed in the D2CCA Tipoff Classic last weekend. Adams State went 1-1 in the event, earning a five-point victory over Northwest Missouri State before falling to No. 13 Lubbock Christian by nine.
Picked to finish third in the RMAC preseason poll, the Grizzlies feature two Preseason All-RMAC selections in senior guard Kiiyani Anitielu and sophomore forward Taejhuan Hill. Hill leads the team in scoring (36) and rebounds (16) through two games, while Anitielu has tallied 30 points.
SCOUTING RU
Regis finished the 2024-25 campaign with a 13-15 overall record and an 11-9 mark in RMAC play, earning the seventh seed in the conference tournament before falling to Western Colorado.
Despite last year's competitive showing, the Rangers were picked to finish last in the RMAC preseason poll. That ranking comes as the team returns just 11.8% of its offensive production from a season ago, led by senior veterans Jessica Bollwahn and Mary Crossland.
SCOUTING WCU
Western Colorado turned in an impressive 21-8 record last season, going 15-5 in conference play to earn the No. 2 seed in the RMAC Tournament. However, a quarterfinal loss to sixth-seeded UC-Colorado Springs cut their postseason run short and kept the Mountaineers out of the NCAA Tournament field.
This season, WCU was picked to finish fourth in the RMAC preseason poll and is led by Preseason All-RMAC honoree Ivey Schmidt. The senior guard paced the Mountaineers last year with 394 points and 78 assists, while ranking second in rebounds (166) and steals (32).
RAMBLINGS ABOUT THE RAMBELLES
2024-25 SEASON RECAP
The story of the Rambelles' 18–12 record in the 2024-25 campaign was one defined by streaks. Angelo State opened the season 2–0 before hitting a three-game skid, only to respond with an 11-game winning streak that propelled them back into contention. A late stretch of ups and downs — two losses, three wins, six losses, and two more victories — ultimately led to a first-round exit in the NCAA South Central Regional at the hands of Texas Woman's University.
EXPERIENCE TO SHARE
After fielding one of her youngest squads last season, head coach
Alesha Ellis enters the 2025–26 campaign with a veteran-heavy roster. The Rambelles feature five seniors, one junior, five sophomores, and just two freshmen, giving the team a strong balance of leadership and youthful energy.
NEW FACES, NEW VIBES
The Rambelles welcome four newcomers to the roster this season, highlighted by Division I transfers
Tristin Keller (Abilene Christian) and Stevi Lockheart (Lindenwood). They'll be joined by freshmen
Halle Hughes, a standout from Christoval High School, and
Dragana Scepanovic, a promising European addition who brings international experience to the squad.
THE COUNTDOWN TO 100 (at ASU)
Head coach
Alesha Ellis is on the brink of a major milestone as she enters her fifth season leading the Rambelles. She sits just 21 wins away from reaching 100 victories at Angelo State University. The former Texas Tech Red Raider has compiled an impressive career record of 268–96 over 12 seasons, including a 79–44 mark in her four full seasons at ASU.
