FRISCO, TEXAS - After a fifth-place finish in the Lone Star Conference and a 17-11 record heading into the postseason, the Angelo State women's basketball team earned six all-conference awards and one all-academic award, the organization announced Wednesday evening.
Madeline Stephens, a Business Admin major in the Graduate Program from Lubbock, Texas was named to the LSC All-Conference First Team. Stephens leads the team in scoring and rebounding averaging 13.8 PPG and 9.3 rebounds a contest.
Keniah Williams, a Interdisciplinary Studies major from Georgetown, Texas was named to the LSC All-Conference Second Team and the All-Defensive Team. Williams averages 12 PPG, 8.8 rebounds, and a conference-leading 2.6 blocks. Williams broke a LSC record for blocks in a game with 15, while the team broke a LSC record for blocks in a game with 20 on Feb 15th against Midwestern State.
Majik Esquivel, a freshman Commercial Aviation major out of Lubbock, Texas was named to the LSC All-Conference Third team. Esquivel is third on the team in scoring averaging 11.8 PPG. Esquivel recorded a career-high 31-point performance on 10-16 shooting against Midwestern State on Jan. 16th. Esquivel recorded her first double-double of her career against Sul Ross State scoring 14 points and a team-high 10 assists in the contest.
Addy Burns and Esquivel were named to the LSC All-Freshman Team. Burns is a freshman History major from Lubbock, Texas. Burns averages 8.3 PPG and 3.4 rebounds. Burns recorded a career- high 22 points against Oklahoma Christian.
Stephens was named to the All-Academic team, being one of the five chosen throughout the league.
