RICHARDSON, Texas — Angelo State women's basketball sophomore
Majik Esquivel was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.
The Lubbock native majoring in commercial aviation earned the honor after leading the Rambelles to a two-game sweep in Oklahoma. She scored 27 points in a win over Cameron and followed with a career-high 38 points against Oklahoma Christian. She shot 47% from the field over the weekend and was a perfect 13 for 13 from the free-throw line.
Esquivel also added seven rebounds, three steals and one assist across the two games.
Angelo State returns to action Tuesday, Jan. 13, hosting UT Permian Basin at the Junell Center-Stephens Arena. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
