LAST TIME OUT
The Rambelles split last week's home matchups, beginning with a tough 76-67 loss to UT Permian Basin before bouncing back with four double-digit scorers (Taylor Grona, Majik Esquivel, Keniah Williams and Landry Morrow), led ASU to a 63-49 victory over UT Dallas in the first matchup in program history.

SCOUTING TAMUK
Last Meeting:
Dec. 5, 2024 (San Angelo, Texas - ASU 58-53)
Last year, the Rambelles were able to erase an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter to defeat the Javelinas. Madeline Stephens led the game with 22 points while getting double-digit scoring support from Keniah Williams (11) and Majik Esquivel (10).

Texas A&M-Kingsville enters the weekend with a 3-11 overall record and 3-5 in LSC play. The Javelinas began the season 0-9 before finding recent success, winning three of their last five matchups. Most recently, the TAMUK split a back-to-back against Texas A&M International, dropping the front half at home, 73-71, before picking up a 15-point victory on the road, 69-52

Offensively, the Javelinas average 55.4 points per game while shooting 39.6 percent from the field, 28.2 percent from beyond the arch and 68.1 percent from the free throw line. The offense is run through Kaycee Groves, who averages 9.7 points per game, followed by Addisyn Parker, who averages 8.0 points per game.

Defensively, TAMUK allows 62.1 points per game, which includes allowing 40.1 percent of shots from the field. Furthermore, the Javelinas average over 34.7 rebounds per game, led by Thalia Daniels, who paces the team with 6.2 per game individually.

RAMBLINGS ABOUT THE RAMBELLES
QUICK HITS

- Majik Esquivel leads the Rambelles in scoring, averaging 17.6 points per game, which is second most in the Lone Star Conference.

- Esquivel, along with Taylor Grona, Landry Morrow and Tristin Keller, has been disruptive defensively, combining for 91 steals total this season.

- Senior center Keniah Williams has recorded three double-doubles thus far this season in the matchups against Western Colorado, Pitt State and most recently, Emporia State. She now has 16 double-doubles in her collegiate career.

- The Rambelles find themselves among the conference leaders in a few categories, including Blocked Shots Per Game (4.3), Defensive Field Goal Percentage (35.8), Offensive Rebounding Average (13.7), and Total Rebounding Average (38.8).

THE COUNTDOWN TO 100 (at ASU)
Head coach Alesha Ellis is on the brink of a major milestone as she enters her fifth season leading the Rambelles. She sits just 19 wins away from reaching 100 victories at Angelo State University. The former Texas Tech Red Raider has compiled an impressive career record of 274–105 over 12 seasons, including an 85–53 mark in over four seasons at ASU.

FEELING MAJIK-AL
Majik Esquivel was named Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Jan. 12 after leading the Rambelles to a two-game sweep in Oklahoma. She scored 27 points in a win over Cameron and followed with a career-high 38 points against Oklahoma Christian. She shot 47% from the field over the weekend and was a perfect 13 for 13 from the free-throw line. Furthermore, the Lubbock native also added seven rebounds, three steals and one assist across the two games

KENIAH'S CROWN
Keniah William was named Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Dec. 22 after she totaled 35 points while leading the Rambelles to back-to-back victories over Texas A&M International and Emporia State to snap a five-game skid. She posted a career-high 25 points against Emporia State and recorded her third double-double of the season against the Lady Hornets. In addition to her offensive production, Williams made a strong impact on the defensive end, totaling 21 rebounds, eight blocks, three assists and one steal across the two contests.

EXPERIENCE TO SHARE
After fielding one of her youngest squads last season, head coach Alesha Ellis enters the 2025–26 campaign with a veteran-heavy roster. The Rambelles feature five seniors, one junior, five sophomores, and just two freshmen, giving the team a strong balance of leadership and youthful energy.

NEW FACES, NEW VIBES
The Rambelles welcome four newcomers to the roster this season, highlighted by Division I transfers Tristin Keller (Abilene Christian) and Stevi Lockheart (Lindenwood). They'll be joined by freshmen Halle Hughes, a standout from Christoval High School, and Dragana Scepanovic, a promising European addition who brings international experience to the squad.

2024-25 SEASON RECAP
The story of the Rambelles' 18–12 record in the 2024-25 campaign was one defined by streaks. Angelo State opened the season 2–0 before hitting a three-game skid, only to respond with an 11-game winning streak that propelled them back into contention. A late stretch of ups and downs — two losses, three wins, six losses, and two more victories — ultimately led to a first-round exit in the NCAA South Central Regional at the hands of Texas Woman's University.
