KINGSVILLE, Texas –
A trio of Belles scored in double figures Wednesday evening as the Angelo State women's basketball team defeated Texas A&M-Kingsville, 68-50, at the Hampton Inn Court in Kingsville, Texas. Senior Camille Perkins recorded her fourth 20-point performance of the season as the Rambelles improved to 9-6 overall and 2-1 in the Lone Star Conference South Division.

Perkins led all scorers with 24 points in the contest. The guard from Groesbeck also chipped in five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Junior Paige Weishuhn got the Belles on the board with a lay-up in the first 30 seconds of the game which led to an early 5-0 Belles run. The Rambelles held the lead for the first 10 minutes of the game as the visitors pushed their lead to as many as eight points (14-6).

However, the Javelinas (2-13, 0-3) fought back and closed the gap at one (14-13) on a three-pointer by Meagan Barlow and took their first lead (14-15) of the game on a jumper by Novella Thomas on the next possession. Rambelle sophomore Lindsey Mahone gave the Belles back the lead as she tallied a trey to put ASU up 17-15 with 7:55 left in the first half.

Mahone had a stellar game as she recorded 18 points, four rebounds and six steals. Her shot from beyond the arc got the Rambelle's momentum going as ASU went on an 8-0 run taking a 10 point advantage (25-15).

The Rambelles continued their offensive tear and closed out the first half with a 34-23 lead.
The second half was much of the same as the Belles never trailed in the latter 20 minutes. Angelo State's Morgan Youngblood registered six points in the second half alone and finished the night tying her career-high with 11 points. She added eight rebounds and an assist.

Thomas and Barlow led Texas A&M-Kingsville with 15 and 12 points, respectively. Thomas contributed five rebounds, four assists and three steals, while Barlow added six boards and a pair of steals.

The Belles return to the Junell Center on Saturday, Jan. 22, when they go head-to-head with West Texas A&M at 5:30 p.m. The game is part of Angelo State's True Blue Campaign Kickoff. For those unable to attend, live stats and live video are available on AngeloSports.com.
