Hall of Honor
In 2004, the ASU Rambelles softball team became one of the fastest teams to earn a national title in NCAA competition, claiming the national crown in only their third year of existence. The Rambelles tallied a 47-11 overall record on their way to the national title, holding the ninth-best winning percentage in the country. Alexis Wing, who is a member of the ASU Hall of Honor, earned All-American honors after leading the country with 56 stolen bases while hitting .450 on the year. Claudia Lopez, another member of the ASU Hall of Honor, led the Rambelles on the mound with a 24-6 record and 221 strikeouts, followed by Arin Spence with a 23-5 record and 121 strikeouts. The Rambelles earned a 7-3 victory over Florida Southern in the final game of the season to win the crown, becoming the first program in Angelo State history to win an NCAA national title.
